If you've never spent Halloween in Brisbane, let me tell you — our little town does it right.Brisbane has a whole trick-or-treat route. Not just a street or two — a real route, the kind where neighbors go all out with decorations, kids pour out in costumes, and the whole town feels like one big block party. As a Brisbane mom, it's one of my favorite nights of the year.## The route locals all knowAsk any Brisbane parent and they'll tell you exactly where to go — the route is the town's open secret. What I love is that it's walkable. Park once, and you're on foot the rest of the night — no driving house to house, no circling for parking every ten minutes. If this is your first Halloween in Brisbane, don't overthink it — just follow the pumpkins. The decorated blocks are easy to spot, and the energy builds as the sun goes down. That's the magic of a town small enough that the whole route fits on two feet.## My tips as a local momGo early. The route fills up fast after sunset. If you have little ones, the 5–6 PM window is perfect — still light out, shorter lines, and the friendliest energy.Bring the wagon. You'll want it. Between the candy haul and tired little legs, a wagon is the MVP of Halloween night.Dress warm. Brisbane gets that ocean breeze once the sun drops, even in October. Layer the costume.Light yourselves up. Glow bracelets, a clip-on light for the wagon, reflective tape on dark costumes — the route is festive, but side streets get dark.Say hello. This is a small town — you'll run into neighbors, classmates, and probably someone you know from the library. That's the whole point.## Make a night of itBefore the route, grab an early dinner on Visitacion Avenue. After trick-or-treating, take the slow walk home past all the carved pumpkins — some of our neighbors really go for it.And if your kids still have crafting energy left over, the Brisbane Library (250 Visitacion Ave) runs family craft afternoons all year — the same library where Casey made her Mexican tin art. Check smcl.org for upcoming events.## Spooky events around town (before 10/31!)The City of Brisbane is stacking the whole month with Halloween fun — mark your calendars:- Sat 10/17, 9 AM–1 PM — Brisbane Lions Pumpkin Patch @ the Community Park Gazebo- Sat 10/17, 1–2:30 PM — Pumpkin Decorating Contest @ the Brisbane Lunch Truck (BLT)- Thu 10/29, 5:30–6 PM — Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Pawty @ the Community Park- Fri 10/30, 7–9 PM — Halloween Middle School Dance @ Mission Blue Center(via @brisbaneca_rec / @cityofbrisbaneca)## What makes Brisbane BrisbanePeople ask me what I love most about this town, and honestly — it's nights like Halloween. A place small enough that the whole community shows up, close enough to San Francisco that you're minutes from everything. You don't get that everywhere. So if you've been thinking about Brisbane, come see a night like this for yourself — the route, the neighbors, the carved pumpkins on every block. That's the town talking.Happy Halloween, neighbors. See you on the route. 🎃Stacy Huang · (415) 840-5704 · DRE #02022230 · @bayareahothome
