Why Does Timing Matter When Hiring a Real Estate Agent?

Who you hire in real estate matters, especially when timing is crucial. Real estate transactions don’t always happen conveniently between 9 and 5. A new listing can hit the market while you’re at work. An offer deadline can be that evening. A counteroffer may have a short response window. Inspection findings, appraisal issues, lender conditions, and negotiations can all require quick decisions. And sometimes, a few hours can make a difference. That doesn’t mean your REALTOR® needs to be sitting at a desk 24/7. It means you need someone who is **responsive, prepared, and able to act when your transaction requires it.** At 7 months pregnant and on vacation in Mexico, I wasn’t working just for the sake of saying I worked on vacation. I was negotiating because my client had an active transaction and it needed attention. When interviewing an agent, don’t just ask how many homes they’ve sold. Ask: • How quickly do you typically respond during an active transaction? • Who handles my negotiations? • What happens if you're traveling or unavailable? • How do you handle an urgent counteroffer or issue? • Will I communicate directly with you or someone else on your team? Because when hundreds of thousands of dollars are on the line, availability and communication are part of representation. Choose someone you trust to work for you when it actually matters.
