Whether you’re looking for a lively Halloween celebration or a casual evening stroll with bonus candy, Foster City has many options when it comes to Halloween festivities. There’s just about something for everyone! As a mom to small humans, here are a few of my favorites. Leo J Ryan Park Halloween Festival 🍬One is the Halloween Festival at Leo J Ryan Park. check out the website for details. You do have to buy tickets to enter and parking can be challenging. The link is below. One year, they had a magician which was nice. They also have many local businesses who sponsor booths with candy. What I like about this experience is it’s all centralized in one place! It also takes the guesswork out of how much candy your littles will be able to collect in the span of a few hours. Lastly, it takes place in the daytime! This is great for the smaller kids or if you want to stick to their bedtime routine. https://www.fostercity.org/1248/2026-Halloween-FestivalFlying Fish Street 🎃I sometimes take them down Flying Fish St. The neighbors on this street go all out for Halloween! There are haunted houses, front lawn decorations, and lots of houses passing out candy. It can be crowded, but there is no charge and you can find street parking. In my opinion this is better for older children as it can get a little chaotic with all the children in costumes and elaborate decorations. The Birds and Fish Neighborhoods 👻Although Flying Fish Street is an awesome Halloween Experience, I often prefer something quieter. I grew up in the Birds Area of Foster City, so these are the streets I am most familiar with. For a quieter trick or treat route, you can try Gull Ave, Marlin Ave, or Crane Ave. In my experience, these streets tend to feel like there’s less traffic, and the houses are closer together. They also have connecting streets so you can make a big loop or a small loop depending on the stamina of your family. I call this “choose-your-own-adventure” trick or treating.Port Royal Ave 🐈⬛Lastly, I also like taking my kids trick or treating on Port Royal Ave. Again the streets are flatter and the houses are closer together. Although it is harder to make a loop, what’s nice is there are many courts off of this street so you can hit a lot of houses without having to go very far. It also tends to be less windy down these streets at night.Tips 🧟In general, it does get chilly at night, so I would bring a jacket and some reflective gear. I also recommend wearing comfy shoes and bringing an extra bag like a backpack for spillover candy. I like backpacks so you can hold the candy and little hands when you cross the street. Additionally, there is no regulation of the lawn/front decorations, and some can be a little creepy or gory for younger children. Lastly, not all households celebrate Halloween, so be on the lookout for porchlights that are on and Halloween decorations on the lawn.Hope this helps you and your family enjoy Halloween. Stay Safe and Happy Holidays!
