Halloween in Vacaville: Candy Cane Lane, the Downtown Candy Stroll & a Local's Guide to Trick-or-Treat
Ask anyone in Vacaville where to go on Halloween night and you'll hear the same answer: Candy Cane Lane.Yes, the same Candy Cane Lane and Lollipop Lane that light up every December. On October 31, these two streets turn into the biggest costume showcase in town. The candy is a bonus. The real draw is the people: the homemade costumes, the matching group outfits, and the friends you run into every few steps.I'm Kelli Kelly, a Northern California REALTOR®, and I've walked these streets on Halloween myself. I can tell you this: you will wait in a line or two, and you will see someone you know. Every single year. Here's your complete guide to Halloween in Vacaville for 2026.

Candy Cane Lane & Lollipop Lane on Halloween

Where: Candy Cane Lane is Arlene Drive and Lollipop Lane is Shady Glen Avenue in Vacaville. Neither nickname shows up on a map, so put the real street names in your GPS.What to expect: Residents here have been decorating for the holidays for about 30 years, and Halloween has become the second chapter of that tradition. Come for the costumes. You'll see superheroes, princesses, inflatable dinosaurs and full group themes, and everyone stops to take photos. The honest truth: Expect lines at the most popular porches and a crowd that moves at a stroll. That's part of the fun. Go for the atmosphere, not to fill a pillowcase.Kelli's tips:
  • Go early. The crowd grows quickly after sunset, which is around 6:10 p.m. on October 31.
  • Walk in, don't drive in. On holiday nights the city suggests parking along Fruitvale Road and taking the short path to Arlene Drive. That works on Halloween too. Bring a flashlight, because the path isn't well lit.
  • Pick a meeting spot. With crowds this size, a set landmark saves a lot of stress if your group gets separated.
  • Be a good guest. These are private homes. Stay on sidewalks, leave yards alone, and pack out your wrappers.

Saturday, October 31, 2026 · 4–6 p.m. · Merchant, Main & Parker Streets · FreeDowntown Vacaville does Halloween much like downtown Napa does. Trunk-or-Treats & Church Harvest Festivals

One thing I love about Vacaville is how many local churches and community groups host their own Halloween events. You'll find trunk-or-treats, harvest festivals, games and bounce houses across town in the days around October 31.These events are usually free, take place in a parking lot or on a campus, and run in daylight or early evening. They're a good option if you'd rather skip the Candy Cane Lane crowds.Kelli's tip: Check your church's website or social pages the week before Halloween. Most groups post their times only a few days ahead.[Kelli: add 2–3 churches you know are hosting this year, with the date, time and address.]

Neighborhood Trick-or-Treat Around Vacaville

Candy Cane Lane gets the headlines, but Halloween happens all over town. These are areas where I see Halloween decorations and trick-or-treaters out every year:
  • North Orchard
  • Browns Valley, on the west side of Vacaville along Browns Valley Parkway
  • The Alamo area, around Alamo Drive
  • The streets around Main Street and the historic downtown core
There are plenty more. Participation is up to each household, and it changes from year to year. How to trick-or-treat respectfully:
  • Visit homes with a porch light on or Halloween décor out front, and skip the dark ones.
  • Stay on sidewalks and use crosswalks.
  • Park legally. Don't block driveways or mailboxes, and keep cars away from corners.
  • Carry a flashlight or wear something reflective once the sun goes down.

Why Vacaville Halloween Sticks With You

What I love most about Halloween in Vacaville isn't the candy. It's the moment on Arlene Drive when you hear your name, turn around, and spot a friend, a neighbor or a former client in a costume you'll be talking about until next October. If you're thinking about a move to Vacaville, spend an evening here on October 31. You'll learn more about the community in one night than in a stack of online listings.
