Halloween in Napa : A Local's Guide to Hometown Halloween, the Best Family Events & Where to Park
Most people know Napa for its vineyards. Locals know it for something sweeter.Every Halloween, downtown Napa trades tasting flights for tiny superheroes. Close to 100 shops, restaurants and tasting rooms open their doors to trick-or-treaters, and First Street fills with strollers, wagons and costumes from 11 a.m. on.I'm Kelli Kelly, a Northern California REALTOR® and a mom of two. I help people find homes across Napa, Solano and the Bay Area, and I've learned that nothing tells you more about a town than how it celebrates together. On Halloween, Napa goes all in.Here's your 2026 game plan and years to follow

Hometown Halloween: Downtown Napa's Biggest Day of the Year

Saturday, October 31, 2026 · 11 a.m.–1 p.m. · Downtown Napa & First Street · FreeThis is the one to circle. The Downtown Napa Association's Hometown Halloween is a daylight trick-or-treat. That makes it perfect for toddlers, early nappers and anyone who'd rather be home before dark. How it works: Look for black and orange balloons outside the door. That's your signal a business is handing out treats. Close to 100 businesses take part, from boutiques and cafés to tasting rooms.Don't miss:
  • The haunted history library. The Napa County Historical Society's Goodman Library, across from the Archer Hotel, becomes a haunted museum for the day. Volunteers in period costume hand out candy.
  • Character photo ops. Bank of Marin, an event partner, is bringing costumed movie characters for photos.
  • First Street Napa festivities, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley host family activities at First Street Napa (1300 First St.), so the fun runs two hours past the candy.
Kelli's tip: The first hour is the sweet spot. Arrive by 10:45, do your trick-or-treat loop first, then slow down at First Street once the bags are full.

Where to Park for Hometown Halloween

Park once, then walk. Downtown Napa has three public parking garages, several public lots and plenty of street parking.
  • Pearl Street Garage (1100 Pearl St.) is a short walk to First Street and the main trick-or-treat blocks.
  • Clay Street Garage is another public garage within walking distance of downtown shops.
  • Public lots and street parking fill up quickly after 10:30 a.m. Read posted time limits before you walk away.
Check the City of Napa's downtown parking map before you leave the house. Bring a wagon or stroller, because downtown is very walkable but little legs get tired fast.

After Dark: Napa's Neighborhood Trick-or-Treat

Downtown wraps up at 1 p.m. For classic porch-light trick-or-treating that evening, look for decorated homes in Napa's older residential areas.
  • Old Town Napa has Victorian and Craftsman homes on tree-lined streets, which makes a beautiful backdrop for porch décor.
  • Around Fuller Park, you'll find walkable blocks, mature trees and a central park that anchors the neighborhood.
  • Browns Valley sits on Napa's west side, near Connolly Ranch and neighborhood parks.
Every house decides for itself, so look for porch lights and pumpkins and skip the dark doorways. Use crosswalks, carry a flashlight, and pick a meeting spot in case your group gets split up.Kelli's tip: Drive your route a few days early. The blocks that are decorated by midweek are usually the ones that go all out on the 31st.
