Dublin Center for Performing Arts: A Look at Life in Dublin, California
If you’ve spent some time in Dublin, you’ve probably noticed how much the city has changed over the years.
What was once a smaller Tri-Valley community has grown into a modern city with newer neighborhoods, schools, parks, shopping, restaurants, entertainment and community spaces. Much of the newer development is concentrated in East Dublin, giving parts of the city a distinctly newer look and feel.
One of the places that reflects Dublin’s investment in arts and community is the Dublin High School Center for Performing Arts & Education.
Dublin’s Center for Performing Arts
Located at 8151 Village Parkway, the Dublin High School Center for Performing Arts & Education is a performing arts venue on the Dublin High School campus. The City of Dublin supports performances at the venue in collaboration with local performing arts organizations, with programming that includes music, dance and theater.
The Center is also one of the facilities included in Dublin’s C.R.E.A.T.E. program, which supports cultural, educational and artistic programming throughout the city.
For anyone who enjoys live performances, having a venue like this within the city adds another dimension to the local experience.
Dublin’s High Schools
Education is another significant part of Dublin’s community infrastructure.
Dublin Unified School District currently operates two comprehensive high schools: Dublin High School and Emerald High School. The district also operates elementary, middle and K-8 schools throughout the city.
Dublin High School is located on Village Parkway, while Emerald High School is located at 3600 Central Parkway in East Dublin.
Emerald High is particularly interesting from a development perspective. The school opened its new East Dublin campus in August 2024, and additional academic, arts and support facilities have continued to be added as the campus develops. The school is also scheduled to open the Catherine C. Kuo Performing Arts Center in April 2027.
School attendance boundaries are address-specific, so anyone considering a particular property should verify the current assignment directly with Dublin Unified School District.
Newer Homes and a Modern Look
One of the things that stands out about Dublin is the amount of newer housing.
East Dublin in particular has seen significant residential development, with newer single-family homes, townhomes and planned communities. Many neighborhoods have a more contemporary appearance, with newer streetscapes, parks and community amenities integrated into the development.
That newer construction can also mean different floor plans, modern layouts and newer infrastructure compared with some of the older neighborhoods throughout the Tri-Valley.
Of course, every neighborhood is different, which is why I always recommend looking at individual communities rather than treating all of Dublin as the same.
A Lot to Do Around Town
Dublin has developed a good mix of shopping, dining, entertainment and outdoor spaces.
Hacienda Crossings is one of the better-known shopping and entertainment areas, with restaurants, retail and movie theater options. There are also other shopping centers throughout Dublin, making it convenient to combine everyday errands with dining or entertainment.
The city also has several community parks and recreation facilities.
Emerald Glen Park
One of the major recreational destinations in Dublin is Emerald Glen Park.
The large park includes sports fields and courts, open spaces, a skate park, picnic areas and other recreational facilities. It is also home to The Wave, Dublin’s aquatic facility.
The park has become an important location for community events throughout the year.
Dublin Farmers’ Market
If you enjoy shopping for fresh produce and local food, the Dublin Farmers’ Market is another local feature worth knowing about.
The seasonal market takes place at Emerald Glen Park on Thursdays from April through September. For 2026, the market runs from 4:00–8:00 p.m. and includes fresh produce, baked goods, honey, nuts, pasta and prepared foods.
During the summer, the city also holds its Summer Concert Series at the Emerald Glen Park Amphitheater.
So a Thursday evening in Dublin can easily turn into a combination of shopping, dinner, music and time outdoors without having to leave the city.
Arts and Culture Are Growing Too
Dublin is continuing to expand its cultural offerings.
The city is developing the Dublin Arts Center as part of the Civic Center. The approximately 13,500-square-foot space is planned as a multi-use cultural facility with features that may include an art gallery, black box theater, art and music classrooms and a dance studio.
That adds to the existing performing arts venues and outdoor spaces already available throughout the city.
Convenient Location
Location is another part of Dublin’s appeal.
The city has access to I-580 and I-680, as well as the Dublin/Pleasanton and West Dublin/Pleasanton BART stations.
For people who commute around the Bay Area, that combination of highway and public transportation access can be an important consideration when comparing different Tri-Valley communities.
What I Like About Exploring Dublin
When I’m showing someone around Dublin, I don’t think it’s enough to simply look at houses online.
I recommend driving around the neighborhood at different times of the day. Try the commute. Check out the grocery stores, parks, restaurants and other places you’ll actually use.
Visit the shopping areas. Stop by the farmers’ market when it’s in season. Look at the parks and community spaces. Check out the performing arts options.
You start to get a much better sense of what everyday life in the area would actually feel like.
And that’s important when you’re looking at real estate.
A house is one part of the decision. The surrounding neighborhood, commute, amenities, recreation, schools, shopping and entertainment all contribute to the overall experience of living in a particular area.
Dublin has changed quite a bit over the years, and with continued residential, cultural and community development, there is a lot to explore.
